He spends fifteen weeks a year doing live performances in Las Vegas (currently performing at the Luxor) and does over 100 shows a year on tour. His comedy routine is most known for his comedic use of props (what Jerry Seinfeld derisively termed a "prop comic"). Due to his appearance and behavior, he is sometimes mentioned (and ridiculed) on television shows such as The Tonight Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Clarissa Explains it All The Larry Sanders Show, Mr. Show, Family Guy, King of the Hill, Too Late with Adam Carolla, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, Scrubs, South Park, The Chelsea Handler Show, and The Late Show with David Letterman. His extensive use of plastic surgery[citation needed] has also been criticized by other comics. He was also the continuity announcer for Cartoon Network between 1995 and 1999. Carrot Top grew up in Florida where his father, Larry, was a rocket scientist who trained astronauts for the Gemini and Apollo programs. He is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. When someone suggested he try out for the college talent show he tried a few old jokes, but found real success the next year when he added a few props to his act. Carrot Top has also appeared in movies, including 1998's Chairman of The Board, and has served as a spokesman in commercials for AT&T. Carrot Top’s brother, Garret, is a member of the Virginia Air National Guard. In 2005, Carrot Top performed a show at Naval Base Ventura County as part of the Spirit of America Tour.
