Ruben Blades' main backup group during the 1980s, Seis Del Solar, became independent in time to record its debut CD in 1992. The music is quite stirring; a prime example of Afro-Cuban jazz at its best. Arturo Ortiz' synthesizers give the band a very contemporary feel, the rhythm section is tight and explosive, the grooves are often funky, and the occasional group vocals add to the music's spirit.
