Born-again Christian lyrics are set to dynamic R&B-meets-Latin funk arrangements by husband and wife duo, Angelo & Veronica. Their warm vocals and dynamic performances have made them favorites of the religious set and their albums have resulted in their receiving a Dove nomination and a Dove award. The son of a musician, Angelo Petrucci was performing by the age of thirteen. Although he had stopped attending church by his teens, he re-discovered his parents' religion after his mother gave him a tape recorded by religious group, The Commissioned. He subsequently played bass for a Bible study group that his parents attended.
Veronica's early life was marked by confusion. Although her mother inspired her religious convictions, her father's inability to display emotions led to deep depression. By the age of nine, Veronica was already displaying suicidal tendencies. A turning point in Veronica's healing began shortly after enrolling at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, at the age of seventeen. Influenced by gospel vocalist Yolanda Adams' album, Just as I Am, Veronica began auditioning for bands as a singer. Meeting Angelo at a nightclub where he was playing, she took the first steps towards both a musical career and a marriage.
Angelo & Veronica's debut album, Higher Places, was released in 1992; subsequent efforts include 1995's Give Your Life, 1996's Never Enough and 1999's Change.
